After approximately 15,000 brews and 500,000 barrels of finished beer, our original brew house has certainly earned its retirement. We brewed our first batch of beer – Whistle Pig Red Ale – on June 17, 1995 and our last batch – Bobo’s Robust Porter – on November 27, 2013. Then on Thanksgiving morning 2013, the old brew house was removed to make way for a shiny new system. Over the next two weeks, we will be doing floor and wall repairs, then tiling the floor and tiling and painting the walls. The new system will be installed by mid-December and we will brew our first batch – Moose Drool Brown Ale – on the new equipment before the end of the year.
Oh, and the original system will not get to enjoy retirement for very long. It has already been sold to a new brewery and will most likely be back to brewing fine ales sometime in 2014.
Thank you for the journey, old friend.
